

Welcome to the Ashill Parish Council website. We hope you find this a useful tool for seeing what is going on in the Parish as well as a window into what your Parish Council is doing for you. There are links to useful sites, such as Somerset County Council Highways, for reporting pot-holes etc, and National Highways, to see the latest status of the A358 dualling scheme for example, as well as contact information for your council, financial reports and meeting minutes. We try to keep the site updated with local news bulletins too. Feel free to feed back comments and suggestions using the "Contacts" link.
Announcements:
Following a number of residents raising concerns over cars travelling at inappropriate speeds on certain roads in the parish, notably Windmill Hill, the parish council engaged with Somerset Council (Traffic Management). Unfortunately, it is not possible to get the speed limit reduced on these roads and indeed, on "national speed limit" roads, there are few options. This led us to consider "village gateways" as both attractive features for the parish and effective speed mitigation options (apparently, they achieve a 19% reduction in incidents when implemented, as a national average figure). We have costed and planned for 4 such gateways and will be debating and ultimately, voting on final implementation of these at the parish council meeting in January. If you have an opinion, or would just like to know more, please do attend.
