Somerset Council is consulting on what should be the Council’s spending priorities and where it could make savings.

As this chart illustrates, Somerset currently spends far less on supporting its bus services than do our neighbouring rural authorities.

If you haven't done so, we would urge you to take part in this consultation, and emphasise that expenditure on public transport (that’s our bus services) should be a priority ... certainly expenditure on public transport should not be cut .. and it ought to be increased.

Please select public transport as one of the most important things where funding shouldn't be cut.

PS If Somerset Council were to reduce its funding of buses as part of this budget review, it would result in the Government cancelling the £6.5m grant just awarded to Somerset Council for 2025/6.
